Renewable energies in Morocco

Based in Morocco and Senegal, CME AFRICA, a subsidiary of VINCI Concessions, part of its renewable energy division, is developing large-scale renewable energy projects in these regions, with the ambition of establishing itself as a key player in Africa’s energy transition.

Its most recent project is the development of a wind farm in Morocco, in partnership with Green of Africa, which will mark a significant step in the kingdom’s energy landscape. With an installed capacity of 360 MW, the farm will power a major seawater desalination plant in the country, while also supplying electricity to the national network.

This project falls within the scope of Law 13-09, which facilitates and encourages investment in renewable energy in Morocco. It will entail a total investment of 4.8 billion dirhams, including 3.8 billion dirhams financed by a banking consortium composed of Attijariwafa bank, Bank of Africa and Banque Centrale Populaire.

With the signing of the financing contracts on January 22, 2025, all preconditions for the implementation of the project have been lifted and the work, which began in September 2024, is continuing according to schedule with the objective of full commissioning before the end of 2026.

This project will actively contribute to achieving Morocco’s renewable energy development objectives and to the Kingdom’s energy transition.
